[00:02] California community colleges are designed for the success of our students, our faculty, our staff, and our administrators.
[00:09] [Dr. AbdiMalik Buul] [Visiting Executive of Institutional Equity, Innovation, and Strategic Impact] [California Community Colleges Chancellor's Office] Each campus provides a uniquely Californian experience, one defined by a spirit of inclusivity, and endless possibility where all individuals can feel valued and supported.
[00:20] We strive to be more than a collection of individual schools, but rather a community of 116 like-minded colleges with a unifying goal, of providing the knowledge, resources, and motivation our students need to excel in their academic pursuits, and beyond.
[00:35] Working at a California community college is an incredible opportunity where you can not only impact individual lives, but also help shape the future of education. It's a big job, we know. Which is why today we're searching for the right individuals to help us in our mission.
[00:51] Professors and educators, industry experts, and a staff dedicated to empowering students to take the next first step towards achieving their dreams.
[01:03] [Dr. Amanuel Gebru] [President, Los Angeles City College]
[01:04] It's a place that values people. It's a place that values students. And it's a place where we make real change happen for our community.
[01:12] [Edgar Granados] [Student, California Community College]
[01:13] My first year at community college, my mentor has made me realize that I'm capable of not only just pursuing my dreams, but also going beyond that.
[01:21] [Francisco C. Rodriguez, Ph.D.] [Former Chancellor, Los Angeles Community College District]
[01:22] My father was a factory worker. My mother worked in a laundromat. So this idea that a first generation English language learner from a working class family in the inner city could go to college and not just go to college, but feel supported, embraced and ultimately nurtured in such a way that now I do this for others, is a pretty powerful feeling.
[01:45] [Teresa Aldredge] [Counselor and Instructor, Cosumnes River College]
[01:47] I go to work every day for my students. I'm there for them. I love my students. I love what I do. I see the value in working at a California community college as making a difference.
[02:02] [Trajan Robinson] [Graduate, California Community College] At a California community college, I met a counselor. It was really important for me to have purpose, to have a strong why, and then to also have mentors help guide me became all those individuals, and it became like this cohesive effort toward myself.
[02:16] [Jesus Valle] [English Instructor and Director of the Native American Resource Center, American River College] It's about connecting and relating authentically within the system to develop that work life balance. But if you keep it people centered and heart centered, then you're going to be happy in doing the work.
[02:28] [Amparo Medina] [Student Activities Specialist, Oxnard College] I came in as an administrative assistant and moved my way up. I became a senior administrative assistant. I have found my career. Honestly, I don't see myself anywhere else besides the community college system now.
[02:40] [Treshawn Weatherspoon] [Graduate, California Community College] So I came to the California community college system as a struggling student graduating high school, and I have to really give credit to the professors on the campuses. I'm not the greatest student, but I'm motivated and I'm driven. And they've seen that in me. Most of my professors have truly felt like they're alongside of me, which I'm really thankful for.
[02:59] [Dr. Vicenta Arrizon Maffris] [Counselor, Santa Monica College]
[03:02] To see and to support students and to change policies and affect that change day to day and see those tangible results, you can't get that anywhere else.
[03:11] [Ahmed (Rasheed) Aden, M.S.] [Counselor and Instructor, San Diego City College]
[03:13] This is the only place I've ever felt like, lets me be my authentic self. Here, community creates opportunity. And we take immense pride in these three simple words. Because it's here, across our 116 California Community Colleges, that we impact the lives of individuals across a wide array of cultures, identities, and experiences. And we believe our educators are the very heart of what we're trying to accomplish.
[03:42] By affecting real change and making a difference in the lives of students who are preparing for the next step towards success. And what could possibly be more fulfilling than that?
