Annebelle: I'm at the California Community Colleges Career Connect, an amazing career fair that has plenty opportunities for all of you.
Announcer: Speaker: Dr. Ricky Shabazz, President, San Diego City College.
Ricky: There's no better place to work than a California Community College. And what better way to give back? Working with first-generation students, former veterans, former foster youth, I just love that we're helping students in our own communities access the middle class and beyond.
Announcer: Speaker: Dr. Abdimalik Buul, Visiting Executive of Institutional Equity, Innovation, and Strategic Impact, California Community Colleges Chancellor's Office.
Abdimalik: It's a calling. And I say it's a calling because we have the opportunity to transform people's lives, whether they're adult learners, former foster youth, immigrants, or single parents, people coming back into society from working 20-plus years in a particular industry, but they want to get a particular certificate to advance or to change careers. The California Community Colleges meet our students where they're at. So why should you work for the community college system? The California Community College system accepts 100% of all students, and nobody is left behind.
Announcer: Speaker: Dr. Latoya Jackson, Visiting Dean, IEPI EEO.
Latoya: We not only offer an incredible benefits packages throughout our different districts, but also provide a really great sense of community.
Announcer: Speaker: Dr. Seher Awan, President, Mission College.
Seher: There's so many different avenues to join a community college, from student services, instruction, to the business side. At the end of the day, if you care about people and you care about making a difference, a community college is a place that you want to work to make a difference.
Announcer: Speaker: Denise Whisenhunt, J.D., President of Fresno City College.
Denise: We believe that everyone should have access to higher education, and we take that very seriously. And today is an opportunity to assemble some of the best and brightest talent throughout the state who are dedicated to make that happen.
Announcer: Speaker: Dr. Erin Charlens, Transfer Center Coordinator, San Diego City College.
Erin: There was also an opportunity to get the nourishment from workshops, so we had people attending workshops to find out how to get hired in the system, workshops on leadership. It's been fantastic.
Announcer: Speaker: Dr. Pilar Nova Huffman, Director of Professional Development, Compton College.
Pilar: My workshop is on career elevation, helping people who are either currently a part of our community college system promote in the system or for people who wish to work in the California Community College system.
Announcer: Speaker: Katie Borts, Director of Human Resources, Grossmont Cuyamaca Community College.
Katie: We've hired individuals that we've met at the career fair. It's a vibrant, high-impact event, getting to meet a lot of educators and classified professionals from around the state.
Announcer: Speaker: Dr. Martha Garcia, President, Mt. San Antonio College.
Martha: We will be hiring at a minimum 20 faculty members, and that provides us an opportunity to make a huge culture shift.
Announcer: Speaker: Dr. Herbert English Jr., Dean of Counseling and Specially Funded Programs, Riverside City College.
Herbert: We have a very diverse student population within the California Community College system, and we need diversity within our staff and faculty and administration.
Announcer: Speaker: Roberta Krauss, Dean of Counseling and Career Services, SDCCE.
Roberta: The career fair has been great. A lot of great presentations. It was an opportunity for me to do networking, meeting a lot of great people from different community colleges at the state.
Announcer: Speaker: Dr. Jennifer Zellet, Superintendent President, Antelope Valley College.
Jennifer: When you're looking for a job at community colleges, I would always suggest looking at each college's website, because you'll find out a lot about what they're offering and where their openings are. But always look at CCC Connect, but that has everything combined into one space.
Announcer: Speaker: Jose Ramirez, Senior Executive Assistant for the Vice President of Human Resources, Mt. San Antonio Community College.
Jose: It's a great opportunity to gather information, learn about programs, learn about faculty openings and administrative positions that colleges offer.
Announcer: Speaker: Erika Vargas, Dean, School of HHD, West Valley College.
Erika: As long as you're leading with love and you're in it for the right reasons, I think you'll be set up for a California Community College.
Announcer: Speaker: John Orr, Project/Program Coordinator for Recruitment, Mt. San Antonio College.
John: In this digital age where all applications are done online, it gives us an opportunity to have some one-on-one time with future applicants.
Announcer: Speaker: Dr. Byron Clift Breland, Chancellor, North Orange Community College District.
Byron: It's not simply a job, but an application of your true values. California Community College system is a very strong network, so it's just a great place for career advancement and opportunity.

Thomas: I feel fired up. I feel like I want to go home and apply to the 15 jobs that have stood out at all these different community colleges.

Millie: Since I've been applying for jobs, it's all done online, so it's hard to really connect with like recruiters and people who really humanize the process.

Joespher: I've been coming for a long time now, and I've actually gotten jobs by actually making connections with people.
Announcer: Speaker: Eiffel Rodriguez, Job Seeker/Career Fair Attendee.
Eiffel: The career fair was a wonderful experience to meet future employers and really get to know about the different departments and their needs.
Announcer: Speaker: Silvia Cruz, Job Seeker/Career Fair Attendee.
Silvia: It was really great to see so many colleges from the lowest point of Southern California all the way up to the very top.
Announcer: Speaker: Daysy Velasco, Job Seeker/Career Fair Attendee.
Daysy: I would definitely recommend it. You get goodies while you're here, but you also get to build those connections with others and meet other people that are in similar journeys such as yourself.

Natalia: This is my first time at the Community College Fair. I had the opportunity to attend the Career Pathways workshop this morning. I found that to be extremely insightful and beneficial. I have flown from across the country to come here. I'm so incredibly pleased and happy that I took the leap and I came to the Community College Fair.
