POSITION DESCRIPTION

Compton Community College District is seeking an innovative individual whose focus is student learning for a full-time 10-month tenure-track position teaching Culinary Arts courses including but not limited to Culinary Arts. Under general supervision of the Dean of Business and Industrial Studies, the Culinary Arts Instructor provides curriculum and equipment recommendations, develop on-the-job training apprenticeship partnerships, trains and supports students in Culinary Arts program. This position requires an understanding of techniques that facilitate adult learning styles and varying teaching modalities. Duties associated with the position include participation in a variety of campus and divisional activities such as faculty meetings, committee work, student activities, office hours, student learning outcomes and assessment, curriculum/instructional development and program review. Assignment may include teaching courses during day and evening hours including weekends and at the feeder high schools. Selected candidates will be invited for an interview, which will include a teaching demonstration on an assigned topic.

Required Qualifications:

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Any Bachelor's or higher AND two years of experience in culinary arts/food technology OR

Any Associate's degree AND six years of experience in culinary arts/food technology

Possesses current ServSafe Managers Certification (or equivalent)

Sensitivity to and understanding of diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural disability and ethnic backgrounds of college students

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

SALARY RANGE: $55,669 - $89,569 (depending upon education and experience)

Paid sick leave is granted equal to one day for each month of service. Sick leave may be accumulated indefinitely. Full-time employees contribute a percentage of their regular salary to either the State Teachers' Retirement System (STRS) or to the Public Employees' Retirement System (PERS) and Social Security.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

Full-time, tenure-track teaching position commences Fall 2025. INTERVIEW EXPENSES
