"BIG PICTURE" RESPONSIBILITY:
College of the Canyons is seeking a faculty leader in the area of Transfer Counseling. This is an 11-MONTH professional, full-time tenure track position beginning in the 2025-2026 Academic Year. The position will focus on noninstructional counseling and delivery of transfer services and support and may include a combination of teaching, department, college, and community leadership functions.
About Transfer Counseling:
College of the Canyons supports over 2,000 students annually in achieving their transfer goals. Students transfer to a number of CSU’s, UC’s, AICCU’s, and out-of-state colleges and universities. More details on our transfer statistics can be found online. This is a noninstructional counseling position with an emphasis in transfer and coordination of transfer services and supports. The position will also be a member of the Academic, Career, and Transfer Counseling Office.
The Academic, Career and Transfer (ACT) Counseling Office seeks to equip students with strategies that establish effective critical thinking and help-seeking behaviors necessary to thrive as successful college students. Qualifications and Minimum Requirements

Possession of an unexpired California Community College Counselor Credential

Master’s in counseling, rehabilitation counseling, clinical psychology, counseling psychology, guidance counseling, educational counseling, social work, career development, marriage and family therapy or marriage, family and child counseling

Bachelor’s degree in one of the above listed degrees and a license as a Marriage and Family therapist (MFT)

Physical Characteristics:
Position will require extended periods presenting material in a classroom setting, and frequent periods of movement from one area to another, which may include traversing to different floors of a building. Requires use of a computer and related equipment; frequent exertion of 10-20 pounds of force to move objects; communicating and providing information to others; and travel from site-to-site. In the event of an emergency, employees will be relied upon to serve as emergency workers.

The College is expecting to conduct initial interviews between the weeks of May 27, 2025, and May 30, 2025, and final interviews between the weeks of June 2, 2025, and June 6, 2025. This is a tentative schedule and is subject to change.
